Job Description:
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an immediate career opportunity for a Safety Engineer to join our team FULL-TIME to initially support all matters construction safety-related at our project site in El Camino, CA. We will consider eligible candidates willing to TRAVEL for the project and earn per diem plus a Travel Incentive Bonus. The schedule is usually 10 days on site, then 4 days off duty. Ryan Companies pays for travel to and from home. We would also consider a Safety Manager candidate.

Implement Ryan Companies Injury Illness Prevention Program on assigned projects.
Implement Ryan Companies Safety Program on assigned projects.
Participate in project kickoff meetings.
Advise and audit project safety systems.

Champion “Safety Starts with You” culture.
Promote and recognize safe behavior.
Assist the Safety Department with the implementation of company programs.
Coordinate with project / safety teams to anticipate upcoming work-activities and ensure compliance with OSHA and Ryan Companies.
Discuss solutions to field problems or conflicts, and help develop practical solutions.
Work with the project / safety teams to schedule preconstruction meetings
& training.
Research various safety topics as assigned by the safety team.
Assist in the development / review of site-specific safety plans.
Assist with developing project safety goals.
Attend and participate in project meetings and assist in preparation / distribution of meeting minutes.
Perform jobsite walks / inspections.
Perform incident investigations.
Address, follow-up, and ensure closure on issues.
Provide safety knowledge to the project.
Assist in the review of subcontractor programs, plans and Job Hazard Analyses
Support jobsite safety orientations.
Attend and participate in Ryan Companies Risk | Safety Management training.
Participate in Ryan Companies networking events to build industry relationships.
Some things we expect you to bring:
Ability to work independently and productively with others.
Knowledge of mission critical project systems preferred (if applicable)
Assist in incident investigations including near misses, injuries, property damage, and those impacting the public.
Individuals must possess a good working understanding of OSHA, NFPA 70E and LOTO requirements related to the construction industry.
Good oral communication – effectively relates to individuals or group situations.
Good written skills – able to express ideas and clearly communicate ideas.
Ability to utilize construction technology systems and multiple computer software platforms.
Demonstrates leadership – effective in leading group or individual toward completion of tasks.
Initiative – must be a self-starter and complete tasks with little supervision, take a pro-active approach and develop new and innovative solutions.
OSHA 30-hour construction certificate.
Four-year degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or related field or minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant project field experience in construction safety with an expectation to earn a degree that supports the growth of the department and position.
Current first-aid, CPR and AED training from a nationally recognized organization
CSP, CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST board certified credential is a plus.
Ability to temporarily travel to project locations.
The salary range is $90,000 - $120,000. The salary base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
