As the Safety & Security Manager within Employee Experience's Real Estate & Facilities team, you will lead enterprise-wide programs that protect our employees, visitors, facilities, and assets while fostering an exceptional workplace experience across Premera's locations.

In this highly visible role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in occupational safety, physical security, emergency management, workplace violence prevention, and regulatory compliance. You'll partner across the organization to strengthen preparedness, mitigate risk, and continuously improve the systems, programs, and practices that keep our people and facilities safe.

What You Will Do:

Safety, Security & Emergency Management

  • Lead and continuously improve Premera's occupational safety, physical security, workplace violence prevention, and emergency management programs across all locations.
  • Develop and maintain safety and security policies, standards, procedures, and operational practices aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate organizational risks through assessments, inspections, incident reviews, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance, Preparedness & Employee Awareness

  • Lead emergency preparedness activities, drills, exercises, and incident response efforts that strengthen organizational readiness and resilience.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA, DOSH, WISHA, HITRUST, HIPAA, SOC, and other applicable safety, security, and facilities-related requirements.
  • Develop and deliver employee training and awareness programs that promote a culture of safety, security, preparedness, and personal responsibility.

Security Operations & Program Management

  • Oversee physical security systems, Security Operations Center (SOC) activities, security technologies, and vendor partnerships that protect employees, facilities, and assets.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, contract performance, lifecycle equipment planning, and operational investments supporting enterprise safety and security programs.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and implement enhancements that improve security, operational readiness, service delivery, and risk mitigation.

Strategic Partnership & Team Leadership

  • Partner with Human Resources, Facilities, Information Security, Legal, Risk Management, Business Continuity, business leaders and local law enforcement to advance enterprise safety and security objectives.
  • Provide safety and security expertise for construction, renovation, and workplace improvement projects by integrating physical security and risk mitigation requirements.
  • Lead and develop team members while maintaining a visible on-site presence to support inspections, incident response activities, employee engagement, and operational oversight.

What You Will Bring (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in security operations, investigations, physical security, or security program management, including 3 years of experience working with physical security technologies and external vendors.
  • Three years of people leadership experience and three years developing and delivering safety training programs
  • A current, valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain required First Aid/CPR/AED and OSHA certifications within six months of hire.

Additional preferred skills and experiences include:

  • Knowledge of enterprise physical security technologies, including access control and video surveillance platforms such as Lenel and Milestone XProtect.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee vendor relationships, security contracts, and third-party service providers while driving accountability and operational excellence.
  • Experience delivering engaging employee training programs and utilizing facility management technologies to support efficient and effective operations.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Plus Salary Range:

$101,900.00 - $173,200.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
