Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience (or advanced degree project experience) developing, testing, and debugging software for physical robotics, mechatronic systems, or embedded platforms.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (C and Python in a Linux environment).
1 year of experience with scientific and data analysis libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, pandas) for processing time-series sensor or actuator logs.
1 year of experience with sensors or actuators (encoders, motor drivers, IMUs, cameras, strain gauges, etc.).
Experience conducting structured Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), FMEA, or reliability engineering on physical robotic hardware or autonomous systems.
Knowledge of robotic system design, including kinematics, dynamics, control algorithms, and perception systems.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement diagnostic and calibration algorithms of appropriate complexity to meet system specifications.
Keen eyes for anomalies in system performance before they become catastrophic failures.
About the job
As a Robotics Engineer focused on System Health and Calibration, you will ensure that hardware is performing as expected, detect when it is not, and find software based solutions to bring it back into specifications. In this role, you will be required to build telemetry and diagnostic tools, chasing down anomalies in complex hardware-software interactions with root cause failure analysis, and creating robust and efficient calibration routines. You will work closely with a dynamic team of robotics researchers, hardware engineers, and reliability specialists to keep our robot fleet operating at peak performance.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Implement and automate calibration routines and verification pipelines for robot sensors and assemblies.
Develop onboard diagnostics and telemetry tools to analyze high-frequency time-series data and detect hardware anomalies.
Investigate faults using testbenches and collaborate with hardware engineers for end-to-end failure isolation.
Write modular, high-performance C and Python code with strong automated test coverage.
Document failure modes, calibration procedures, and diagnostic playbooks to support fleet scaling.
