Highland Hospital is seeking compassionate and motivated new graduate Registered Nurses to join our Med-Surg to Critical Care Fellowship Program. This structured program is designed to support the transition from nursing student to professional RN while building the knowledge and clinical skills required to practice in high-acuity and critical care environments.

Participants begin their residency in a Medical-Surgical unit to develop a strong clinical foundation (West 5), followed by a guided transition into Critical Care (East 7 - Progressive Care Unit). The program integrates hands-on clinical experience, mentorship, classroom learning, and simulation training to prepare nurses for advanced patient care.

**This opportunity is ideal for candidates who love critical care but want to build their RN foundational experience first on Med/Surg.
West 5 -General Medicine Unit Specializing in Congestive Heart Failure patients and related comorbidities, including COPD.
East 7-Progressive Care Unit cares for acutely ill patients requiring continuous monitoring, including ventilator dependent patients, peritoneal dialysis. acute cardiac, and Stroke patients.

The RN I provides professional nursing services to patients and their families while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes and improve the care environment. Nurses use the nursing process and evidence-based practice to coordinate and deliver safe, patient-centered care.

Level I Registered Nurse (RN):
The Level I RN is a new Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) who is completing the Nursing Practice Orientation Program at 6 months of clinical experience or less post licensure. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Level I nurse is accountable for provision of direct care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process. The Level I nurse supports peers in the delivery of patient care services in an organized manner prioritizing safety and team collaboration and communication. The Level 1 nurse contributes to unit activities that enhance patient care outcomes. Once the Level I nurse and the Nurse Manager completes the six month evaluation and determines if the nurse has met expectations of performance at the end of probationary period. If all requirements are met, the nurse is advanced to Level II RN.

PAY RANGE: $39.25-$40.25

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) . BSN preferred.

• Current RN license or eligible for licensure prior to start date

• Current BLS certification (ACLS encouraged prior to critical care transition)

• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

• Interest in developing advanced skills in critical care nursing

• Acceptance into the fellowship program following application review
