Overview

Electro Rent is looking for an RF / Telecom Programmer who enjoys turning technical challenges into reliable, automated solutions. In this role, you will develop and improve calibration-lab programs that expand internal capabilities, streamline workflow, and support consistent quality for our customers. You will work across multiple programming tools and collaborate closely with engineers and lab technicians in a hands-on technical environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy test and verification programs for RF, GP and Telecommunications lab applications.
  • Validate manufacturer and contract programs with support from lab technicians before deployment.
  • Support uncertainty budgets and help classify verification programs to the highest appropriate standard.
  • Partner with technical staff to identify the software controllers, drivers, interfaces, test equipment, and other components needed to run verification and test programs.
  • Maintain program control and archiving so only approved programs are available for use.
  • Automate instrumentation setup, checks, verification, and related programming processes.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and improve internally developed procedures/programs while incorporating available standards into practical solutions.
  • Operate company vehicles in accordance with applicable laws, DOT requirements, company driving policies, and safety standards, including required random drug and alcohol screening programs.
  • Take on other related responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of metrology and the ability to calculate measurement uncertainties.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.
  • Experience with programming languages and strong general computer skills, including Word and Excel, with the ability to learn proprietary database software.
  • Understanding of electronic instrumentation and its applications, with the ability to troubleshoot in a calibration and/or test environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related science field.
  • Programming experience with Visual Basic, Fluke MetCal, ESI Mudcats, and Metrology.Net.
  • Experience with automation process controls and instrumentation drivers.
  • Experience programming controllers for calibration or testing of Agilent, Fluke, Tektronix, Keysight, Viavi, EXFO, and Rohde & Schwarz Performance Verification Software (RSPVS) instruments.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Full-time work is typically 40 hours per week, with consistent attendance and adherence to company break and meal-period guidelines.
  • Work is primarily indoors in an electronic lab/warehouse environment and may include prolonged periods of standing and computer work, frequent interruptions, and deadline-driven activity in a low-to-moderate noise environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and by computer; read documents and small print; and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 25 pounds and move equipment weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance.
