Position Overview

The Novelis Davenport team is seeking an EMRA Leader to lead reliability and maintenance planning strategies that improve asset availability, equipment performance, and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other partners to drive reliability initiatives, optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs, lead root cause investigations, and develop long-term asset strategies. The EMRA Leader will oversee reliability performance metrics, support equipment lifecycle planning, and lead a team focused on implementing protocols, continuous improvement, and cost-effective asset management while ensuring safe and reliable plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to the Reliability Engineering Team members to implement cost-effective preventive and predictive asset strategies to achieve best-in-class availability and reliability of the plant process equipment.
• Provide resources to support equipment-related loss investigations to determine causal factors and provide technical recommendations and mitigation plans to prevent reoccurrence.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, crafts, engineering, procurement, and other identified collaborators to drive improved asset availability and support fit-for-purpose training on reliability work processes and practices.
• Support equipment-related data capture for analysis and trending to establish equipment health, evaluate risk, identify bad actors, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and publish Reliability Key Performance Indicators to measure and improve Reliability performance of the equipment assets and reliability-related work processes.
• Assess Equipment Criticalities and develop Asset Strategies to achieve cost-effective reliability, availability, and plant equipment performance.
• Ensure the facility’s assets operate reliably and efficiently and align with all safety guidelines and government regulations.
• Engage with Capital and Project Engineering to review and recommend Design for Reliability considerations for new equipment installations and upgrades.
• Develop 1-year and 3-year Reliability Tactical Plan Plans to improve equipment availability and performance.
• Support Maintenance in developing forward-looking multi-year equipment replacement and overhaul plans.
• Find opportunities to use reliability guidelines, technology, automation, and Artificial Intelligence to promote cost-effective asset care and performance.
• Support Maintenance in reviewing, rationalizing, and optimizing effective PM plans and PdM systems.
• Use communication skills to establish partnerships across the site to achieve plant performance goals.
• Work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary to manage facility performance.
• Provide administration, control, and analysis of all data, records, and equipment histories to review and refine PM frequencies continually. Coordinate and provide training on PdM techniques.
• Coordinate and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all significant failures in the manufacturing unit.
• Communicate the key performance indicators for reliability for the manufacturing unit between departments, leadership, and the department team.
• Facilitate/coach Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)as specified by the Reliability Roadmap for the manufacturing unit.
• Provide direction and support to the Reliability Team. This includes involvement in hiring, disciplinary functions, pay grade advancements, and annual reviews.
• Manage the hourly Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, collaborating to ensure efficient and effective maintenance planning and scheduling processes. Provide guidance and support to the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler and identify opportunities for improvement, leading efforts to implement those improvements.
• Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects.
• Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance and ability to facilitate investigations and develop mitigation plans to address findings.
• Experience with maintenance best processes such as shutdown planning and execution, preventive maintenance, and precision maintenance techniques.
• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (i.e., vibration & oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound.)
• Knowledge and experience with Process Control.
• Experience with proactive reliability tools and Root-Cause-Analysis methodology.
• Experience with MS Project.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS.)
• Experience fixing equipment issues and analyzing production loss and reliability data.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree, Engineering
• Five (5) or more years of experience in Maintenance, Engineering, or Operations, aluminum industry
• Experience leading and mentoring others. Supervising direct reports
