Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Two years of direct nursing experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention and medical emergencies required.
• Ability to work independently and manage nursing diagnoses effectively.
• Familiarity with department-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Performs thorough physical assessments and medical histories of detainees/inmates.
• Assists physicians during sick calls and provides minor surgical procedures.
• Implements and ensures compliance with physician's orders for medication administration.
• Conducts observation rounds, documents patient progress, and reports issues to management.
• Maintains security protocols while dispensing medications in a correctional environment.
• Properly disposes of medical waste, including needles and syringes.
• Prepares reports and maintains compliance with accreditation standards.
• Coordinates scheduling for Chronic Disease Clinic services.
• Supervises LPN staff and contributes to performance evaluations.
