ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse (RN) Cath Lab/EP Lab is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures. This role functions as a circulator, recovery nurse, procedural monitor, and sedation nurse for cardiac catheterization, cardiac implant, and cardiac ablation procedures, while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Registered Nurse (RN) Cath Lab. The primary responsibility of this position is to:
Primary Responsibilities:- Provides nursing care to ensure the safety of the patient.
- Directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic and sterile techniques and procedures.
- Performs various tasks as a CV circulator and recovery RN.
- Serves as a circulator for cardiac implantable electronic device procedures, including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and other electrophysiology procedures.
- Serves as a circulator for complex electrophysiology procedures, including diagnostic EP studies and cardiac ablations.
- Performs patient monitoring during electrophysiology procedures utilizing ComboLab and associated EP monitoring systems.
- Operates and documents procedures using Pruka and Micropace systems during electrophysiology studies and ablations.
- Administers and monitors moderate sedation in accordance with organizational policies, physician orders, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring the Cath Lab and EP Lab procedure rooms are properly prepared for patients and procedures.
- Assists in transporting patients to the Cath Lab/EP Lab and verifies appropriate pre-procedure preparation and documentation.
- Verifies that appropriate procedural preparation has been completed.
- Completes documentation for Cath Lab and EP Lab records, patient charts, medications, sedation records, and physician orders.
- Supervises and assists with the proper and safe positioning of patients throughout procedures.
- Performs required procedural counts and documentation in accordance with department policies.
- Ensures emergency equipment and supplies are available, functional, and readily accessible.
- Provides assistance and support to teammates, physicians, patients, and patient families as appropriate.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills that promote patient safety, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality outcomes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with Current State Licensure, Current BLS required. Current ACLS preferred, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Experience: Minimum of (5) year of continuous catheterization lab, ED, or PACU experience required. Previous critical care experience preferred.
- Working Knowledge: Able to monitor, scrub, and/or circulate on all cath lab procedures including pacemaker, vascular, cardiac, IR and pain management procedures. Able to pre-op and recover patients undergoing all types of procedures. Able to provide direct patient care to the stable and acute patient. Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic tracings.
- Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, IV infusions, and computer equipment. Ability to operate specialty equipment in the facility and to perform tasks at a "user" level.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact will all patients, families, staff, and physicians. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues and be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental stage of the patient/visitor.
- Age-Specific Criteria: Must be knowledgeable and possess the skills necessary to provide care specific to the age-related needs of the patient and interpret data specific to the age group.
