Regional Manager - Transmission & DistributionFull-Time | Travel RequiredPosition SummaryAs a
Regional Manager - Transmission & Distribution, you will plan, monitor, and manage regional long-term strategic projects and programs from pursuit through completion. You will secure and allocate resources, manage budgets, schedules, risks, and change, and ensure successful project delivery while driving profitability across the region.
This position provides leadership for regional operations, project teams, and field personnel while supporting business development, customer relationships, and strategic growth initiatives. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to influence teams, customers, and stakeholders across a geographically dispersed region.
Key ResponsibilitiesRegional Leadership & Operations- Provide leadership and oversight for transmission and distribution EPC and construction projects, including transmission lines, substations, distribution system improvements, grid modernization initiatives, renewable energy interconnections, BESS facilities, and storm restoration programs.
- Manage regional programs and project portfolios to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
- Work with field leadership to forecast and plan regional resource requirements based on current and projected workloads.
- Regularly visit project sites to support field operations, safety initiatives, and project execution.
- Directly manage projects and assume full project management responsibilities when necessary.
- Partner with the General Manager and Vice President to support the strategic development and growth of the region.
- Facilitate the resolution of complex operational, project, and program challenges.
- Review and approve reports prepared for management, clients, and key stakeholders.
People Leadership- Directly manage regional personnel and carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, development, performance management, and employee engagement activities.
- Mentor, develop, and retain Project Managers, Superintendents, and emerging operational leaders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Promote the Michels Family of Companies culture and core values throughout the region.
Business Development & Client Relations- Build and maintain strong customer relationships in partnership with Business Development leadership.
- Represent Michels Power at industry conferences, customer meetings, and networking events.
- Support regional growth initiatives and identify opportunities to expand services and market presence across transmission, substation, and distribution markets.
- Manage the regional RFP process and review associated bid packages.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and executive-level point of contact for key customers and stakeholders.
Financial & Risk Management- Manage regional budgets, forecasts, profitability, cash flow, and resource allocation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project and program risks.
- Oversee change management strategies and contractual compliance.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to ensure successful outcomes.
Safety & Culture- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for employees, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
- Identify workplace hazards and support proactive risk mitigation efforts.
- Champion and model Michels Power's commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence across all regional operations.

What it takes?- 10+ years of progressive experience in transmission, distribution, substation construction, EPC delivery, or power infrastructure operations
- Proven success managing large-scale transmission and distribution projects, programs, and regional portfolios
- Strong understanding of transmission line construction, distribution system construction, substation integration, project sequencing, and risk management
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing project profitability, forecasting, budgets, and resource planning
- Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project controls, job cost tracking, estimating software, and utility construction management systems is a plus
- Ability to develop teams, build customer relationships, and support regional growth initiatives
- Experience managing projects for investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipalities, renewable developers, or industrial power customers is preferred
- PMP, PE, or other advanced industry certifications preferred
- Willingness to travel as required within the region
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
