We are a leading home services provider, and we are seeking a Regional Accounting Manager to work in our corporate Accounting department based in Nassau County (Long Island) NY. This position reports to a Zone Controller and will oversee a team of Accountants. The role is ultimately responsible to direct the financial affairs of the organization and protect the company's assets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, assigning and directing the workflow of the Accounting team for multiple locations
- Supervise staff to ensure work is completed, reviewed for variances and submitted timely
- Consolidate data and compile reports on a monthly basis
- Responsible for communicating and correcting any breakdowns in the control environments
- Educate staff on importance of appropriate control environment
- Coordinates, develops and disseminates the division's annual business plan, working with the general manager and zone controller to compile the information required for effective decision-making and compliance
- Handle filing for federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may make personnel recommendations
- Other duties as assigned
- Occasional travel to multiple sites within the footprint as needed
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience
- 3-5 year's supervisory/management experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, SOX and internal controls
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple employees and processes
- Knowledge of oil or propane gas industry a plus
