The Role

Blue Owl Insurance Solutions (BOIS) is Blue Owl's insurance-focused asset management business, partnering with insurance companies to deliver customized investment solutions across private credit, asset-based finance, real estate, and other alternative asset classes. BOIS leverages Blue Owl's global platform, origination capabilities, and investment expertise to help insurers achieve their return, capital, and liability management objectives. As of June 30, 2026, BOIS serves nearly 100 insurance clients and manages more than $30 billion of insurance-related assets.

BOIS seeks an Associate-level professional in its New York office to join the Investment Products team and lead the rating agency process for private investments that BOIS originates, structures, and manages on behalf of insurance company clients. This individual will serve as the primary liaison with rating agencies throughout the transaction lifecycle, working closely with other members of the BOIS Investment Products team and other Blue Owl verticals to obtain and maintain ratings on a wide range of investments. The ideal candidate has experience at a rating agency or working with rating agencies along with strong project management and communication skills. This role offers the opportunity to expand into investment structuring and help create innovative investment solutions tailored to insurance companies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end rating agency process for newly originated private investments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with rating agencies, coordinating all communications, meetings, diligence requests, and committee presentations.
  • Support the development of rating strategies and transaction structures designed to meet client investment objectives.
  • Analyze rating agency methodologies and model outputs to assess expected ratings and identify structural enhancements where appropriate.
  • Identify creative rating and structuring solutions by drawing on concepts from different rating methodologies and transaction frameworks to help achieve client investment objectives.
  • Manage transaction timelines to ensure timely completion of ratings process within transaction deadlines.
  • Support discussions and negotiations with rating agencies regarding structural features, transaction terms, and rating outcomes.
  • Monitor changes in rating agency criteria, methodologies, and market practices and assess their implications to existing and prospective investments.
  • Support the development of new investment products by providing input on rating feasibility and structural considerations.
  • Assist in ongoing surveillance matters, including surveillance reviews, periodic information requests and restructurings.
  • Prepare internal memoranda summarizing rating outcomes, methodology changes, and key transaction risks.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience at a rating agency or working with rating agencies in asset-based finance or fund finance.
  • Working knowledge of rating agency methodologies, cash flow modeling concepts, and transaction structures.
  • Familiarity with insurance company investment considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively about rating outcomes and transaction structures by synthesizing concepts across different rating methodologies, asset classes, and transaction frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple live transactions simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex transaction structures clearly.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Interest in insurance investing, alternative asset classes, and transaction structuring.
  • Leverage AI as a tool to drive efficiency.


The base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $125,000 to $150,000. Actual salary offered will be based on the candidate's skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
