Job Title: R&D Manager

Purpose and Objective:

UOP LLC seeks an R&D Manager at our Des Plaines, IL location to recruit, train and mentor scientists to build a results-driven, diverse, and inclusive team.

Responsibilities

Expectations and Tasks:

Lead the adsorbents group using a fundamental science approach that enables a strong technology pipeline positioned for growth. Conceive and manage research programs for next generation and new adsorbents offerings. Manage and allocate resources for pre-discovery NPI projects in support of R&D AOP. Build a strong understanding of adsorbents fundamentals, including equilibrium and kinetics properties of adsorbent materials within the team. Work with NPI leaders to support active NPI projects and understand the needs and gaps that require innovation. Contribute to competitive landscape analysis and IP portfolio strategy. Contribute to R&D strategic planning and roadmaps.

Education and Occupational Experience:

PhD degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry, or a related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:

Experience must include two (2) years involving each of the following:
  • Providing technical leadership and direction based on recognized subject matter expertise;
  • Characterizing complex materials at the molecular and functional level to support new technology development;
  • Understanding and applying advanced analytical techniques, including high resolution mass spectrometry, for problem solving and data interpretation; and
  • Leverage scientific innovation to drive the company commercial growth.


BASE SALARY RANGE: $169,541.00 to $181,000.00 per year.

The annual base salary range for this position is $169,541.00 to $180,000.00 per year. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
