Quantitative Portfolio Strategist
Location: Montreal (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Level: Intermediate (2 to 5 years of experience)
Employment Type: Full-time
Since our founding, we've grown to manage
over $1.9 billion in gross assets, an achievement driven by consistent top-percentile performance for the past six years. As a
Quantitative Portfolio Strategist, you will be the bridge between our models and the market: you will oversee our portfolios every day, ensure our strategies are implemented and traded as designed, and help build the systems that run them. Your work will directly shape the financial futures of a diverse group of investors, from retirement funds and educational endowments to government institutions and individuals.
Role Overview
In this role at the
intersection of investment and technology, you will:
- Review and oversee our portfolios daily: monitor positions, exposures, risk, cash and mandate compliance across our systematic Canadian corporate bond and fixed income portfolios, and own their implementation and trading.
- Build and improve the systems behind them in production-ready Python, from automated trade execution and allocation infrastructure to real-time analytics and reporting tools, working extensively with AI coding agents and in partnership with our quantitative researchers and developers.
You'll be immersed in every phase of the investment process (trading, research, software development, and client reporting), giving you immediate impact on our portfolios and client experience. You will work with a
high degree of autonomy: you manage your own schedule and priorities, and you are expected to identify business needs and design the systems that meet them. As you progress, you'll gain broader responsibilities, including model oversight, strategy development, client presentations, and technology innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Implementation- Perform the daily portfolio and data review: confirm that positions, trades, NAV and reports are complete and accurate, and investigate and escalate any exception.
- Reconcile trades and positions with our custodians and fund administrator.
- Review model-generated rebalances, pre-trade compliance checks and mandate constraints before execution.
- Execute trades in Canadian corporate bonds and other fixed income securities, adapting execution to market conditions to achieve best execution and minimize slippage.
- Monitor market conditions and new issues; feed liquidity and pricing insights back into our selection models and measure execution quality through transaction-cost analysis.
Client Reporting & Interaction- Automate the production of monthly client reports, marketing materials, and external documentation (DDQs, databases).
- Over time, join the CIO in client and prospect meetings, communicating our investment philosophy, process, and results.
Systems & Research- Infrastructure & Automation: Design and maintain Python-based trading and allocation tools, integrating portfolio construction systems with Bloomberg and other venues. Enhance data pipelines, analytics dashboards, and automated workflows to support real-time, data-driven decisions.
- Research & Innovation: Partner with quantitative researchers to validate and integrate new signals, factors, and alpha sources into our strategies, backed by out-of-sample evidence.
Ideal Candidate Profile
While the following outlines our ideal candidate,
2 to 5 years of relevant experience, production-ready Python, and registration as an Associate Advising Representative or Advising Representative are musts. Beyond that,
we encourage you to apply even if you excel in only one of these areas and meet some of the others:
Investment & Trading- Experience trading fixed income products, especially Canadian corporate bonds.
- Knowledge of bond market liquidity, execution methods, fixed income analytics (duration, spread, curve) and portfolio risk management.
- Registered as an Associate Advising Representative or Advising Representative (e.g., CFA charter or CIM designation, plus the required relevant investment management experience).
Software Development- Production-ready Python and Git (required): you write, test and maintain code that runs in production (APIs, databases, pipelines), not just notebooks, and you work daily with Git (branches, pull requests, code review). Hands-on SQL required; C++ a plus.
- Extensive AI agent experience (required): heavy, hands-on use of AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) in day-to-day coding, research and system design, with rigorous review and validation of their output.
- Comfortable working with large datasets, building scalable data pipelines, and creating robust tools.
Growth Mindset & Communication- Self-directed: comfortable managing your own schedule and priorities, and translating business needs into system designs you carry from concept to delivery.
- Communicates complex ideas clearly; open to growing into a client-facing role.
- Fluent in French and English, spoken and written (our vendors and technical documentation are in English).

Type d'emploi : Temps plein
Voici le profil idéal;
