Who We Are

HII Mission Technologies' New Nuclear Division is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Manager, Quality 2 to lead quality assurance activities supporting advanced nuclear programs. This role will oversee quality engineering, compliance, and inspection functions to ensure our nuclear programs meet stringent regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements. The Manager, Quality 2 will drive continuous improvement, oversee program-level quality strategy, and ensure that deliverables align with nuclear industry standards and HII's commitment to operational excellence.

This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in nuclear-grade quality programs, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, supply chain, and customer stakeholders.

This position is located in Alma, MI

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for ensuring quality policies and procedures are followed in assigned location.
  • Monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction as required to managers.
  • Provides training and inspections as required. Executes department procedures.
  • Responsible for daily operations of team or work unit.


What You Must Have

  • 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience.
  • Candidate must have direct experience with commercial nuclear quality programs and manufacturing of structural steel components.
  • Candidate must have strong knowledge of quality systems, audits, root cause analysis methods, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Candidate must have experience interpreting and applying standards such as NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar.
  • Candidate must have experience working analytical skills with the ability to work with complex datasets, performance metrics, and quality indicators.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Candidate must have experience developing or maintaining controlled documentation and participating in structured review processes.
  • Candidate must have the ability to travel, work onsite, and meet shift requirements. Candidate will work onsite at a subcontractor facility. The first 2-4 months requires additional travel to multiple facilities.


Bonus Points For Having!

  • Applying standards and understanding NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21.
  • Experience in nuclear manufacturing, nuclear construction, shipbuilding, or commercial nuclear environments.
  • Certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or equivalent.


Physical Requirements

Job performance may require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
