Project Overview:Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.
Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.
Job Summary:The Quality Control Engineer (QCE) will report to the Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) and will support Field Engineering (FE), supervision, and project quality teams in promoting right-the-first-time quality. This role will assist with inspection readiness, quality walks, documentation review, and resolution of field quality questions. The QCE will help coordinate with the Client and third-party inspectors on quality issues, support timely closure of nonconforming or suspect conditions, and learn project quality requirements, procedures, and expectations through hands-on field engagement.
The QCE will also support the Construction People Based Quality (PBQ) Site Lead with proactive quality activities that help identify trends, reduce nonconforming conditions, reinforce quality expectations, and support right-the-first-time quality. This position will provide development opportunities in quality processes, construction work execution, inspection coordination, and cross-functional problem solving.
Major Responsibilities:- Support the LQCE in reviewing, tracking, and trending nonconforming conditions and assist with documenting follow-up actions based on identified trends.
- Assist the Construction PBQ Site Lead with proactive quality activities, including quality walks, field observations, coaching moments, lessons learned, and reinforcement of right-the-first-time quality behaviors.
- Work with Field Engineering, supervision, and third-party inspectors to help verify work package and inspection readiness, identify gaps before formal inspection, and support timely resolution of quality-related questions or issues.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited University, plus 5-8 years of relevant work experience; or 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Ability to work with multidiscipline teams to help identify quality issues, support root cause discussions, document proposed actions, and assist with timely resolution of nonconforming or suspect conditions.
- Basic ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, standards, and procedures, inspection criteria and project-specific quality requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and willing to learn project databases, dashboards, reporting tools, Visio, Power BI, or equivalent tools to support quality tracking, data analysis, and communication.
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
