ABOUT THE PRACTICE
State and local government is in the middle of a generational shift in how it operates. Agencies and departments that have run on legacy systems for decades are now modernizing their finance, HR, payroll, and procurement functions, with legacy ERP migrations representing one of the largest replacement cycles the public sector has ever seen. All of this while the promise and reality of AI is changing the way we deliver and the opportunities for functional transformation inside and outside of the ERP.
The stakes are significant. These are not technology projects in isolation. They determine how a state pays its workforce, manages its budget, processes federal grants, and delivers services to the public. Done well, they free up capacity and give agencies the operational foundation to do more with what they have. Done poorly, they create disruption that is difficult to undo and politically costly to explain.
Our State Government practice is in the middle of this transformation, working with state agencies, departments, and county governments on the implementations that matter most to them. We are looking for practitioners who find this work genuinely compelling and bring the domain depth to do it well.
THE WORK
You will own the functional tower in your domain, whether Finance, HR, Payroll, or Procurement, on Cloud ERP implementations for state and county government clients. That means leading design, driving decisions, managing the client relationships within your workstream, and being accountable for the quality of what gets delivered.
State government is not a generic ERP environment. Budgets are driven by legislative appropriations, not revenue. HR operates under civil service frameworks with rules that shape nearly every workforce decision. Payroll compliance varies by jurisdiction and touches complex benefit and deduction structures. Procurement is governed by state regulations that exist for accountability reasons, not inefficiency. A practitioner who understands these realities brings a fundamentally different quality of design than one who is learning them on the job.
Travel: Ability to travel 50%+
We are not looking for someone who covers every domain. We are looking for someone who owns one and brings that depth to every client engagement.
