Description

Performs, completes and oversees the psychiatric treatment activities of a diverse caseload of patients and families as a member of the clinical team to ensure appropriate standards and practices are maintained for patients

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, overall findings and diagnoses of patients through use of history and other appropriate tests
  • Prescribes and monitors medications; recommends appropriate clinical interventions
  • Reviews medical histories and records treatments in medical charts to ensure proper and timely documentation
  • Works collaboratively with other medical and specialty areas to discuss and obtain consultative services for cases requiring multi-disciplinary approach
  • Serves as a resource to the patient and/or family regarding available community and state resources, programs and services to provide for health needs of patients
  • Maintains and provides caseload data, activity records and other relevant information for use in program operations, performance improvement or for program planning purposes
  • Provides clinical coverage for and/or pediatric, adult and geriatric patients served to ensure provision of a comprehensive continuum of care
  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings and workshop participation
  • Actively participates as a member of the Medical Staff; serves on committees as appropriate
  • Provides clinical leadership and consultation for other professionals by providing expertise in psychopharmacology and various therapeutic interventions
  • Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
  • Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
  • Performs other duties as required


Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program of study leading to either an M.D or D.O. degree
  • Current, unrestricted and valid State license to practice medicine, Arizona preferred
  • Completion of either an ACGME or AOA approved Psychiatric Medicine training or residency program and possess or actively pursuing Psychiatric Board Certification
  • Current basic CPR designation or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
