  • Release conforming materials for shipment and coordinate with Bechtel teams to assist in logistics.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will represent Bechtel as the supplier's project quality point of contact. You will perform quality surveillance and hands on inspections to verify that supplier equipment, material, documentation, and personnel activities conform to the requirements of procurement documents. You will work with supplier representatives to ensure requirements are understood and implemented.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-RG1

Major Responsibilities:

  • On a small sized project, represents Bechtel as the supplier's prime contact with respect to supplier quality and performs quality surveillance activities defined by the assignment scope to verify that supplier furnished equipment and material conforms to the technical and quality requirements of the procurement documents
  • Reviews the procurement document requirements with supplier representatives to ensure they are understood and implemented
  • Monitors supplier personnel activities including witnessing of operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify procurement document requirements have been met
  • Performs hands on inspections to verify by re-examination the efficacy of supplier inspection efforts and to provide assurance of the conformance of equipment or materials to procurement document requirements
  • Reviews supplier generated quality verification documentation to verify conformance to procurement document requirements
  • Rejects material found nonconforming and collaborates with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to obtain a course of supplier action which facilitates satisfactory disposition of disclosed non-conformances
  • Releases conforming material for shipment and notifies other Bechtel functional organizations to assist in coordination of their activities
  • Evaluates supplier's conformance to specified quality criteria on a specific assignment or group of assignments to provide input to recommendations for placement of future orders
  • Conducts surveys or audits or surveys of suppliers, when assigned
  • Participates as an audit team member or technical resource for nuclear material and/or quality program audits


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with major commodities typically procured for Semiconductor, Datacenter, Battery Manufacturing or Life Science projects; recognized codes and standards (ie FDA/cGPM); and manufacturing methods.
  • In-shop quality surveillance or related work experience.
  • Experience in performing project Supplier Quality functions having some degree of complexity, e.g., preparation of detailed inspection plans for use on complete or uniquely designed systems; preparation of full scope man-hour and budget estimates for proposed intermediate-sized projects; review of complex technical specifications; or the establishment of project corrective action(s) to resolve nonconformances that have a significant impact on project cost/schedule
  • Ability to provide guidance to other Area Supplier Quality Specialists and non-technical support staff as assigned.
  • Background as a lead auditor for conducting supplier quality system audit or capability surveys of a prospective supplier. Experienced with quality management programs including ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100, ISO13485.
  • Experience with interaction/monitoring of Third-party Agency quality surveillance contractor personnel to assure proper implementation of project requirements.
  • Training or Certification in Lean / Six Sigma preferred
  • Prior experience in writing technical procedures, Technical Reports, and problem solving / Root Cause Analysis
