If you thrive at the intersection of steel, schedules, and people, this role is for you.

Owen Industries (PVS Division) is looking for a Steel Construction Project Manager to lead multiple structural steel projects from award through delivery-keeping jobs safe, on track, and profitable. You'll be the hub that connects detailing, production, logistics, estimating, and the customer, making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

This is a hands-on project role for someone who understands how steel fabrication really works-and knows how to keep momentum when details, drawings, and priorities are constantly shifting.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the key liaison between detailers, customer engineers, and internal teams
  • Track and manage material buyouts, deliveries, and long-lead items
  • Maintain and update project schedules weekly, keeping all stakeholders informed
  • Communicate critical milestones and sequencing needs to the Production Manager
  • Track scope changes and provide estimating with accurate information for change orders
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and manage evolving project requirements
  • Help set shop priorities and ensure the best use of fabrication resources
  • Coordinate shipping logistics to meet customer schedules and site constraints
  • Communicate special project requirements including:
    • Weld testing or inspection needs
    • Paint systems and coating requirements
    • Special handling or shipping instructions
  • Track field back charges and coordinate internal review prior to acceptance
  • Verify IFC drawings and contract documents against bid sets
  • Track estimate vs. actual costs, invoices, and lien-related documentation
  • Travel as needed to support customers, detailing coordination, or project execution

What Success Looks Like
  • Projects ship on time, within budget, and without surprises
  • Communication is clear between the shop, detailers, and customers
  • Changes are documented, priced, and managed-not absorbed
  • The production floor always knows what's coming next
  • Customers trust you as their go-to contact

What We're Looking For

    • Structural steel fabrication
    • AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction)
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Steel fabrication workflows
    • Project scheduling and material planning
    • Change management and cost tracking
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without losing details
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Self-starter mentality with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • BA/BS degree preferred-or equivalent real-world experience

Travel
  • Local, regional, and occasional national travel
  • Estimated 0-20% travel, based on project needs

Why Join Owen Industries / PVS
  • Work on real structural steel projects, not paper-only PM roles
  • Collaborate with experienced detailers, fabricators, and production leaders
  • Stable, well-established steel operation with strong customer relationships
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact on project performance and profitability
  • Team-oriented culture that values communication, accountability, and execution
