PROJECT MANAGER WATER RESOURCES / SURFACE WATER SERVICE LINEPOSITION SUMMARYThe Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating surface water projects within our stormwater practice area from proposal development through design, delivery, and construction support. This role will manage small to medium-sized projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, quality control, client communication, report production, and oversight of project teams. The position requires the ability to prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates; evaluate and resolve design challenges; coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal team members; and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and support staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, organizational, communication, and leadership skills, along with a solid understanding of the AEC project life cycle and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Preparation of proposals on projects with subsequent project management responsibilities including: budgeting, scheduling, directing subordinates, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, and communicating with superiors and clients on small to medium size projects
- Project management for small to medium size projects including proposals, scheduling, budgeting, resource management, and team member coordination
- Design of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects
- Development and execution of quality control plans in accordance with company standards
- Report writing and report production as well as oversight of report writing and report production by subordinates
- Coordinates and communicates with team members, clients, contractors, and outside consultants
- Make recommendations for additions, deletions, or substitutions when modifications are necessary
- Makes periodic visits to construction sites as appropriate to review conditions
- Attendance at project meetings, public hearings, and making presentations at interviews for new projects
- Maintains a current knowledge base for the work being performed including reading professional publications and occasionally attending professional meetings and seminars
- Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for large projects and/or multiple small projects
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate engineering work involving conventional engineering practices and may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements
- Supervision of engineers, technical, or administrative support personnel
- Involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections, detailed design work and detailed checking of design computations performed by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project
- May require participation in the recruiting and hiring process

POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or a demonstrated history of successfully completing project management-related work within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry
- Registration as a professional engineer or working to obtain licensure, or progressive project management work experience
- Understanding of the project life cycle in the AEC industry
- Familiarity with project scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
- Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients
- Ability to lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians
- Strong organizational skills; ability to track multiple projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capable of multitasking across different project tasks and deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering
- 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state, or ability to obtain licensure within an agreed-upon timeframe
- Experience in water resources engineering, surface water, and stormwater management
