JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating assigned construction projects to meet goals for time, budget, quality, and safety. Requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to manage all phases of work while maintaining compliance and fostering collaboration across teams and clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Project Planning and Coordination

Review project proposals and drawings to define scope and requirements.
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and staffing assignments for fabrication and erection.
  • Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, and detailers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee project progress to maintain budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Submit drawings, product data, and materials for approval.
  • Prepare progress reports and attend project meetings with clients and contractors.

Change Order Management
  • Prepare and track change orders per client and project requirements.
  • Analyze cost impacts from RFIs, RFPs, and bulletins.
  • Complete required client or institutional forms (e.g., SUNY, OGS, Cornell).
  • Respond promptly to change order inquiries with documentation.

Billing and Financial Administration
  • Develop project schedule of values and ensure timely, accurate billing.
  • Monitor deadlines, track progress, and incorporate approved changes.

Documentation and Dispute Resolution
  • Maintain organized project files and records.
  • Respond to delay or claim correspondence with factual documentation.
  • Collaborate with management or legal counsel on escalations.

Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce PPE and job site safety protocols.
  • Prepare required OSHA documentation and lift plans.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability.

Additional Duties
  • Provide project support and problem-solving as needed.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies.
  • Travel to job sites and meetings as required.
  • Regular attendance and other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, plus 1-2 years of construction project management experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Familiarity with structural steel or estimating is preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Communication: Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents and communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and project partners.
  • Mathematics: Skilled in applying geometry, trigonometry, and statistical concepts to solve practical construction problems.
  • Analysis & Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying issues, analyzing data, and developing sound conclusions.
  • Technology: Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software; able to learn new tools quickly.

Certificates and Licenses:
• Valid driver's license required.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
• PMP, CCM, or related certifications are a plus.
• Crane, rigging, or lift plan training may be required depending on project needs.

Salary Description

$65,000 - $110,000 DOE
