Project Manager - Industrial Architecture

Role Description: We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of industrial projects across sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, energy, and process facilities. The ideal candidate has a strong background in architectural project delivery, a passion for problem-solving, and a proven ability to manage complex technical projects from concept through construction.

Duties:
  • Project Leadership: Direct and manage all phases of project development- from proposal and design through construction and closeout - ensuring technical excellence, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients; develop and maintain strong relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of client needs and goals.
  • Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including architects, engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Scope, Schedule & Budget: Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets; monitor performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Contract Administration: Oversee contracts, subconsultant agreements, and change orders in accordance with firm and client standards.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all project deliverables meet firm standards and regulatory requirements; facilitate internal reviews and quality assurance processes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards.
  • Business Development Support: Participate in proposal writing, presentations, fee development, and negotiations to support business growth.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering professional growth and team development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
  • Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
  • Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in project management within an A&E environment, preferably focused on industrial or manufacturing projects.
  • Licensure: Professional Architect (RA)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of industrial facility design and building systems.
    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Deltek Ajera, or similar).
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other A&E design tools is advantageous.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Strong client-facing and negotiation abilities.
    • Capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
