The RoleWe're looking for a Project Manager who thrives on leading complex, high-stakes delivery. You'll own enterprise SaaS implementations for utility clients across North America and act as a strategic partner to their leadership teams from kickoff through go-live. This is a highly visible, client-facing role where you'll navigate competing priorities, help shape how we deliver, and keep large programs on track financially and operationally.
This is a Project Manager III role, our most senior project manager level. You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy, and we're looking for someone who can raise the bar for how we deliver, not just follow the playbook.
Utilities industry experience is a big plus, but we're just as interested in the complexity and scale of the projects you've led.
This role involves periodic travel to client sites across the US and Canada. You'll need to be able to travel freely between both countries.
What You'll Be Doing:- Leading highly complex, cross-functional enterprise SaaS implementations (or a portfolio of them) using SpryPoint's hybrid delivery methodology
- Acting as a trusted, strategic advisor to client executives, understanding their business goals and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics
- Owning project financials end to end, including budgets, revenue forecasting, effort estimation, and variance reporting to leadership
- Negotiating scope, budget changes, and high-stakes trade-offs with clients, and evaluating impact against schedules, contingencies, and acceptance criteria
- Anticipating risks early, building solid contingency plans, and managing strategic dependencies before they become problems
- Using influence without authority to keep client and internal leaders aligned to milestones and governance
- Presenting to client steering committees and executive leadership, and owning the story of the project
- Helping shape our PMO standards, templates, and best practices, and supporting the growth of PM I and PM II teammates
What You Bring:- 7+ years of enterprise project management experience, including leading complex, high-risk implementations
- Utilities industry experience (electric, water, wastewater, gas, sanitation) is strongly preferred. We're flexible on the number of years and the industry itself if you've led complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise software implementations with a similar scope (think CIS, billing, ERP, asset management, or field service)
- Strong financial acumen, with a track record of owning budgets, forecasting effort and revenue, and explaining variances with confidence
- Experience across waterfall and agile methodologies; hybrid delivery experience is a big plus
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at every level, from project teams to the C-suite
- Strong critical thinking: you're comfortable with ambiguity, can pull together conflicting inputs, and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions
- A highly organized, detail-oriented approach with strong written and documentation skills
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in project management or business administration
What Sets You Apart:- Hands-on experience with management information systems such as CIS, WAMS, MWM, or GIS
- Experience helping define or improve PMO processes, frameworks, or delivery standards
- A history of mentoring or coaching other project managers
- Experience with web-based portfolio or project management tools
Interview ProcessWe know your time is valuable, so we've designed a process that's transparent, efficient, and - hopefully - genuinely enjoyable.
Here's what to expect:📞
Step 1: Recruiter Screening ConversationA relaxed conversation to learn more about your background, your goals, and what's drawing you to SpryPoint.
💼
Step 2: 45-Minute Interview with our Director of PMOA deeper dive into your delivery approach, project management experience, and leadership style.
📝
Step 3: Project-Based Take-Home AssignmentYou'll receive a mid-project scenario for a fictional utility client. Your job is to diagnose what's gone wrong, assess the risks, complete a budget analysis, and build a recovery plan. Think of it as a bit of a scavenger hunt - we'll give you the pieces, and you get to figure out what happened. You'll then present your findings to the panel during the final interview.
🎤
Step 4: Final Interview & PresentationYou'll walk senior leadership through your approach and have a chance to talk through your thinking in a collaborative conversation. Depending on availability, the Chief of Staff and a Portfolio Director will be part of the final presentation.
Step 5: References & OfferWe'll check your references to confirm the great things we've learned about you. If all goes well, we'll be thrilled to extend an offer and hopefully welcome you to the team!
Throughout the process, we're looking for clear communication, structured thinking, financial ownership, stakeholder management, and a genuine delivery mindset. Most importantly, we encourage you to bring your authentic self to every step.
