Project Manager - Data Center Operations

The Project Manager - Data Center Operations, leads and manages post-construction and operational projects within hyperscale and enterprise data center environments. This role focuses on the planning, execution, and delivery of our post-construction ("Day 2") activities, including capacity expansions, infrastructure upgrades, operational improvements, maintenance projects, and customer-driven modifications after initial facility commissioning.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Lead commercial electrical and mission-critical infrastructure projects from inception through completion.
  • Manage Day 2 operational projects within active data center environments, including equipment replacements, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance activities, and system modifications.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate project activities with facility operations teams to minimize disruption to critical environments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings, progress reviews, operational planning meetings, and project closeout meetings.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage maintenance windows, shutdowns, cutovers, and operational activities in accordance with client requirements.
  • Monitor project costs, labor utilization, subcontractor expenditures, and change orders.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures including MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs where applicable.
  • Prepare project documentation including schedules, progress reports, change orders, forecasts, and closeout reports.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Safety to ensure field personnel have the appropriate training and resources to perform work safely.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Project Managers, and other assigned project team members as the team grows.
  • Lead efforts to continually improve project delivery processes, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.


Key Experience to Hit the Ground Running:
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in mission-critical facilities, data centers, electrical construction, or facility operations.
  • Experience managing projects within active operational data center environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, critical infrastructure, facility operations, and mission-critical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and project management software platforms.


What Would Really Make You Shine:
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center environments.
  • Knowledge of mission-critical operational procedures including MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
  • Electrical contracting or mission-critical construction experience.
  • LEED experience.
  • Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, critical systems testing, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships and drive repeat business opportunities.
