Project Geotechnical Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:- Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
- Lead portions of technical project work from project scope through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff.
- Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as learnings from prior work experience, to execute project work.
- Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline.
- Under the direction of the senior staff, participate in communications with clients, agencies, and internal teams within your discipline.
- Plan, perform and oversee geotechnical engineering investigations, technical evaluations, data summarization, and design.
- Conduct basic construction observation, including quality control and field-testing tasks.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:- Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of relevant design experience in seismic, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements.
- Able to work independently on individual tasks supporting technical work and exhibit the ability to manage tasks and perform work on multiple projects or multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis 3D, FLAC 3D, and/or relevant geotechnical analysis software.
Preferred Skills:- CA Professional Engineering license or planning to obtain professional license within 6 months.
- West Coast consulting experience and knowledge with, liquefaction, and seismic sampling and design methods.
- Nuclear Density Guage Certification.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
- Specialized software applications relevant to geotechnical engineering.
The salary range for this position in
San Diego, CA is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
