DescriptionWood Rodgers is seeking a licensed Project Engineer to support and lead water/sewer infrastructure projects. This role will focus on overseeing and/or performing engineering analyses and design relating to water well equipment, pump stations, storage tanks, site civil improvements, water pipelines, sewer collection systems, or other related water/sewer facilities. The duties require overseeing and/or development of technical analyses including technical memoranda, technical reports, feasibility studies, hydraulics, preliminary engineering design, and final design (including the preparation construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates). Bid and Construction phase support is also required, including evaluation of construction bids, responding to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing submittals, and evaluating construction change proposals. Under direction, a Project Engineer performs difficult and complex engineering tasks and acts as a supervisor to a small group of engineers and/or technical support staff.
This is an staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
What you will be doing- Performing or guiding the technical analysis of the project(s) assigned. Makes sound decisions on technical problems and methods related to the work being performed based on established engineering principles and guidelines, and supervisory guidance.
- Serves as project manager, defining the scope of the project, developing budget and schedule estimates, performing feasibility studies, managing staff, and providing training. Monitoring project progress status, compliance with approved scope, and informing all parties of the same.
- Reviewing proposed changes for impact on the project design, budget or schedule.
- Preparing reports and presentations that provide raw technical data in a concise and comprehensible manner.
- Consults with clients, engineers within other departments, and external project team members as representatives regarding assigned projects. Act as the point of contact for inquiries regarding the project.
- Prepares PS&E packages, including construction plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates for various types of water/sewer infrastructure projects.
- Ensure all project reports and bid packages are compatible.
- Completes project documentation accurately and in a timely manner and ensures delivery of all documents.
- Solves and coordinates construction issues.
- Trains and supervises multiple staff in approving construction submittals or preparing responses to RFIs.
- May act as a technical expert in specialty area, providing training and outside presentations to clients, peers, and engineering community.
- Solid project management skills; able to critically analyze and creatively solve issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan and direct the work of subordinates; effectively supervise, coach and train.
- Assists with development of proposal components such as project understanding, scope, fee.
- Proficient with related software and tools required to complete all job duties, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, and modeling programs.
Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
- A minimum of 6+ years of experience performing related engineering work; or, equivalent education and experience
- P.E. License Required
