Job DescriptionOverviewA Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical and contractual oversight pertaining to the end-to-end delivery of rolling stock vehicles. Projects could consider heavy rail, intercity, light rail, metro and tram type vehicles. Acting on behalf of the client, you will use your technical and system integration expertise to analyze technical documentation, develop system specifications, lead design reviews, develop and lead testing and commissioning strategies and advise on all project aspects pertaining to system integration, risk and hazard management in the rail environment. The role frequently interfaces with the following systems; Track, Signaling, Communications, and Civil infrastructure (stations, yards and maintenance facilities). Experience with Signalling would be a value add.
Your roleTechnical Leadership & Integration:
- Performing technical reviews, design approvals, and ensuring compliance to specifications, codes, and standards.
- Support integration of rolling stock with signaling and train control systems, communications, track and other physical and digital interfaces.
- Ensure that the rolling stock has been designed and tested to seamlessly and safely integrated within the railway network.
- Manage the technical process to ensure that the rolling stock meets all requirements for reliability and availability as part of the integrated operating railway.
Program & Commercial Management:
- Support the Project Manager by implementing the delivery plan, master schedule, and risk register.
- Potentially interface with the vehicle supplier on issues pertaining to design and delivery/testing planning.
- Administer the technical aspects of the project including relevant project reporting, ICDs, warranty/ claims and change management, and technical milestones.
- Support bid proposal and technical estimates pertaining to business development.
About you- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Member of a Professional Engineering Order (PEO P.Eng or OIQ .ing).
- 8-10+ years delivering rolling stock and railway projects.
- Design or practical signaling experience is an asset.
- Practical experience performing on-site QA/QC and V&V compliance is an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English.
