POSITION SUMMARYSince Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Project Engineer IV with deep knowledge in life support and/or pressure systems and a background directing complex technical projects from conception to completion. In this role they will be responsible for supporting the design and development of the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems of the first commercial space station. This role is onsite, based at our Spaceport Facility and reports to the Manager, Mechanical Project Engineering.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Own project engineering for a large or technically complex scope of work, or concurrently across two related scopes
- Develop and maintain requirements consistency across concurrent assigned scopes of work
- Create and maintain schedules across concurrent assigned scopes of work
- Identify and manage risk across concurrent assigned scopes of work
- Assign and coordinate work scope across concurrent assigned scopes of work
- Lead resolution of cross-cutting technical issues spanning multiple team members' work within assigned scope
- Represent assigned scope's technical status directly to program and functional leadership with minimal oversight
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Level I-III engineers staffed within the same program
- Contribute engineering assessment to proposal or new-business technical inputs when requested
- Serve as CAM equivalent across concurrent assigned scopes, owning cost, schedule, and earned-value reporting for each, when applicable
- Manage procurement requests within the approved budget across concurrent assigned scopes
- Recommend supplier technical acceptance criteria, partnering with Supply Chain on sourcing decisions
- Monitor subcontractor technical performance for complex subsystems within assigned scope, tracking delivery and quality trends and verifying deliverables against contractual technical requirements
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet rigorous NASA standards, FAA regulations, and quality safety requirements

Education & Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 8- 11 years' experience leading Engineering projects
- Technical understanding of design, development, and production of Environmental Control and Life Support Systems
- Spaceflight hardware design background preferred
- Experience working with NASA requirements and contractual agreements and spaceflight hardware development and certification preferred
- Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.)
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software or similar computer aided design tool preferred
- Experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar preferred
- Experience with project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
- Experience with Atlassian suite preferred
- Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

WORK ENVIRONMENT:Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
