Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare status updates for stakeholders.

About the Role

MWHis currently seeking a qualified Project Engineer to support a critical wastewater treatment plant project in Gresham, Oregon. This position will support the Project Management team through a variety of commercial functions, including cost management, change management, contract administration, forecasting, reporting, and project controls.

Essential Functions

Cost Management & Forecasting (35%)
  • Assist Project Managers in tracking project costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Support monthly cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and project performance analysis.
  • Monitor cost trends and identify potential risks, opportunities, and variances.
  • Assist with earned value reporting and project controls activities.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and support project audits as required.

Contract Administration & Change Management (35%)
  • Review subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and contract documents to ensure commercial compliance.
  • Support administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of change orders.
  • Analyze subcontractor change requests and support validation of pricing and entitlement.
  • Track time-and-material work, force account activities, and executed change orders.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely resolution of commercial issues.

Project Coordination & Communication (20%)
  • Support Project Managers with planning, execution, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and document commercial action items requiring follow-up.
  • Coordinate with field teams, schedulers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to support project objectives.
  • Assist in aligning project schedules, procurement activities, cost forecasts, and change management efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members to support project success.

Documentation & Reporting (10%)
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, logs, correspondence, commercial records, and contract files.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and project status updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering, commercial project controls, construction management, contract administration, or related project delivery roles.
  • Experience supporting cost management, change management, forecasting, budgeting, or contract administration activities.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, project documentation, and commercial management processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to be onsite 5-days a week.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large infrastructure, heavy civil, water/wastewater, or commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with change management, subcontract administration, and cost forecasting.
  • Knowledge of project controls and commercial management best practices.
  • Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, CMiC, SAP, or similar project management software platforms.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or employment experience in the construction industry is a plus.
