Title:
Project Coordinator

KBR is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our team in Columbia, MD. The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of projects throughout the project lifecycle. This position serves as a key coordination point between engineering, production, program management, finance, customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to help ensure project activities remain aligned with established schedules, priorities, and objectives. The Project Coordinator assists with project planning, schedule maintenance, resource tracking, labor and material monitoring, forecasting support, and status reporting activities. The role supports project teams by coordinating meetings, tracking action items, maintaining project documentation, and facilitating project execution across functional organizations. The Project Coordinator provides visibility into project status, risks, issues, milestones, and performance metrics through the collection, analysis, and reporting of project data.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the central coordinator for projects initiated through requirements and project requests.
  • Partner with functional teams to develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, labor hour estimates, and material cost estimates for new and ongoing projects.
  • Review historical project data and engineering inputs to support estimating, scheduling, and project planning activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, program management, finance, and other stakeholders to support project planning, execution, and successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, project timelines, and coordination activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project tasks, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and action items to help ensure project activities remain aligned with project objectives.
  • Facilitate recurring project status meetings, capture meeting minutes, document action items, and monitor assigned task completion.
  • Maintain project documentation, including schedules, status reports, risk registers, issue logs, action item trackers, change requests, and project records.
  • Monitor project progress and provide status updates to stakeholders regarding project performance, risks, issues, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinate communication among engineering, production, program management, finance, customers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders as required.
  • Support labor, material, resource, and staffing tracking activities to provide visibility into project performance and future requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute project status reports, dashboards, metrics, and presentations using Jira, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and other project management tools.
  • Assist with project planning, forecasting, budgeting support, and resource management activities by collecting and analyzing project data.
  • Track project risks, issues, and change requests, ensuring concerns are documented and routed through appropriate project management processes.
  • Help ensure project information, schedules, documentation, forecasts, and reporting data remain accurate, current, and properly maintained.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance project management processes, reporting methods, and team coordination.

Required Qualifications
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field; 6 years of directly related project coordination, project management, or program support experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project coordination, project management, program support, operations, or a related business function.
  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, defense, government contracting, or other technical project environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools such as Jira, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, government contracting, research and development, or manufacturing programs.
  • Experience developing project dashboards, metrics, and reports using Power BI, SharePoint, Jira, or similar reporting platforms.


Basic Compensation: $84,000-$115,400/year

This range is for the Maryland area only.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
