The annual base salary range for this position in California is $155,000 to $175,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Program Officer manages assigned grantmaking portfolios from sourcing and diligence through recommendation, execution, monitoring, renewal, and closeout. Potential areas of investment may include Human Trafficking, Housing & Homelessness, Workforce Development, Strengthening Social Sector, Food Security, STEM, and other emerging areas of the Foundation’s work. The role manages grantee relationships, develops field knowledge, and elevates significant decisions, risks, and opportunities for leadership. The Program Officer contributes to portfolio strategy development but does not lead strategy across multiple portfolios or supervise staff.

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
Success means well-managed portfolios, decision-ready recommendations, responsive grantee relationships, and early escalation of significant risks and opportunities without day-to-day involvement from the Chief Program Officer. Just as important is how the work gets done. The Program Officer thrives on a small, hardworking, collaborative team; pitches in beyond their own portfolio when needed; brings humility, good judgment, and a low-ego approach to the work; and takes the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously. They understand the responsibility of representing a family foundation and consistently steward the donors’ interests, intent, and values in relationships and decision-making.
