Job SummaryThe OVPR Office of Research Development team is seeking a Program Manager to support team science and research leadership initiatives. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Collaborative Engagement, the Program Manager will develop and deliver programming for faculty skill-building, leadership development, collaboration planning and research strategy. They will facilitate ideation sessions and workshops to build new and expand existing interdisciplinary research collaborations, and will work closely with multiple teams to help advance research goals. The ideal candidate is an organized project manager and skilled facilitator who enjoys connecting people and ideas across disciplines and who can translate university goals into well-structured programs with measurable outcomes.
Primary responsibilities include: program development and presentation; program evaluation; planning and facilitating workshops, ideation sessions and other convenings that engage faculty researchers for collaborative activities; evaluation and reporting of activities and programs, and continuous program improvement driven by feedback from program participants; building and maintaining relationships with faculty and campus partners; tracking outcomes that demonstrate the impact of collaborative initiatives
This is a hybrid position. The Program Manager will be expected to work in the office a minimum of one day per week and be on campus as needed for events.
Responsibilities* The job functions of this role will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, designing and delivering high quality content for faculty development in the areas of strategic planning, creating shared visions, managing peers, effective collaboration, effective leadership, effective communication, etc.
- Coordinating timelines, logistics, registration, communication and evaluation of programs.
- Developing agendas and facilitating ideation sessions, workshops and convenings tailored for specific goals and groups of all sizes.
- Planning, managing and tracking activities of multiple research teams by working collaboratively with the lead investigators and their partners.
- Creating detailed work plans, schedules, resource plans and status reports
- Organizing logistics of meetings for multiple teams, including scheduling calendars; reserving space and/or setting up Zoom links; planning and hosting; communicating directions; creating and disseminating agendas and taking notes.
- Setting up and coordinating methods of communication (e.g., MCommunity groups, Slack channels) and data collection (e.g., Qualtrics) for team activities as needed.
- Managing storage/file sharing systems (e.g., Google Drive, DropBox).
- Writing and editing drafts of communication and other documents, as needed.
- Designing and administering pre- and post-program evaluation (e.g., Qualtrics surveys, interviews); analyzing results, and preparing reports with recommendations.
- Establishing and tracking key performance indicators.
- Supporting the Assistant Director as needed with projects and tasks to achieve successful implementation of collaborative engagement initiatives.
Required Qualifications*- Bachelor's degree.
- 2-3 years of program/project management experience and/or research project coordination with a demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to deadline.
- 2-3 years of facilitation and training experience.
- Effective organization and management of multiple priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and credibility with a range of partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Ability to both work independently and as a successful team member.
Desired Qualifications*- >5 years of equivalent experience, especially with large, multi-unit research teams or programs.
- Experience with academic research enterprises, including: externally sponsored research, research administration, and funding sources.
- Proven ability to lead large, cross-departmental programs and projects, building consensus across stakeholders and ensuring project requirements are met.
