Full Job Description
Role: Program Manager

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

At Seasats, the Program Manager is accountable for the successful execution of the company's external and internal projects. You will own the plan, the schedule, the budget, and the customer relationship on execution matters for projects ranging from complex customer contracts to participation in government and military exercises.

You coordinate complex and enduring projects, tasking and monitoring matrixed personnel from Engineering, Production, Fleet Operations, and Business Development who are assigned to your project but report to their own functional managers. Your job is to keep the plan, the schedule, the budget, and the customer aligned and moving forward.

As one of Seasats' primary points of accountability to the customer on contract execution, you'll work directly with government and military customers while coordinating internally across Engineering, Production, Fleet Operations, and Business Development. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on ownership, enjoys bringing structure to complex programs, and wants to help deliver autonomous maritime systems for missions that matter.

If you like being the person who makes sure the project goes to plan, on schedule, on budget, and to the customer's satisfaction, we'd love to hear from you.

Role Details:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Own the successful execution of assigned external and internal projects, including customer contracts, government/military exercises, and internal initiatives
  • Manage customer contracts and ensure successful delivery against contract terms
  • Support sales proposal efforts by defining project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Track project hours and cash expenditures, in coordination with finance/accounting, and use that tracking to inform project invoicing
  • Coordinate the execution of project tasks by tasking and monitoring matrixed personnel assigned to the project by their functional managers
  • Plan and conduct internal and external meetings associated with assigned projects
  • Represent Seasats as the company's single point of contact on assigned projects
  • Author and/or coordinate project documentation deliverables
  • Identify and track project risks and develop mitigation plans

Typical projects might include:
  • Contracted engineering and development projects to evaluate or deliver novel USV capabilities
  • Contracted USV maritime operations
  • Company participation in government and military exercises
  • Internal projects as tasked, including complex customer demonstrations and marketing initiatives

About You:

You are an organized, accountable Program Manager who enjoys owning outcomes rather than just tasks. You're comfortable managing a budget and a schedule with the same rigor you bring to a customer relationship, and you know how to get results from people who don't report to you.

You enjoy working with government and military customers, coordinating across engineering and operations teams, and being the person who's ultimately answerable for whether a project succeeds. You have:
  • Three years of experience as a Project/Program Manager on government contracts (required)
  • Experience as a PM on either small engineering development projects or maritime operations contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project plans, schedules, staffing plans, and budgets
  • Experience supporting proposal efforts by scoping cost, schedule, and technical approach
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage a customer relationship on execution matters and to task and monitor matrixed personnel across functional teams
  • Demonstrated a proactive, organized approach to identifying risk and keeping projects on schedule and on budget
  • Proficiency with Microsoft's suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams) for planning tracking, and reporting
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Due to export control requirements applicable to this position, we are only able to consider U.S. persons, as defined by U.S. export control laws. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylee or refugee status

This position will require you to travel away from home and even outside the US for short periods of time; travel could consist of 25-35% for customer facing events and visits. Seasats provides a travel stipend while you're on the road, so you can expect to save money while on work trips.

In addition, it's nice (though not essential) if you have:
  • PMP certification
  • Military experience
  • Ocean experience

Hiring Notes:

When applying, you'll be asked to provide a resume and answer a few screening questions.

Please note that we are currently unable to sponsor employment visas, so candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States.

We look forward to reviewing your application!
