Overview

HealthySteps is a unique, proven pediatric primary care program committed to healthy early child development and effective parenting. The Program Director has the responsibility of ongoing management and enhancement of the Healthy Steps Program that is responsive to the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of population(s) served their caregivers and the community. Responsible for all aspects of the program.

Responsibilities

Program Director Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinates, manages, mentors, provides reflective supervision, coaches, and supervises HealthySteps staff, interns and volunteers to ensure appropriate assignment of job duties to enhance maximum delivery of HealthySteps services.
• Manages HealthySteps program budget.
• Implements pediatric residency training program and curriculum.
• Ensures quality of program fidelity, evaluation, and department reporting duties.
• Develops clinical/training presentations and grant proposals.
• Participates in special projects as needed.
• All other duties required for HealthySteps implementation.

Specialist Primary Responsibilities

• Conducts office visits, either jointly with the physician/pediatric nurse practitioner or alone.
• Works closely with the pediatric providers around care coordination, goal setting, counseling, coaching and education about key aspects of a child's development.
• Provides anticipatory guidance to parents and other primary care givers around common concerns such as early learning, fussiness, sleep, feeding, discipline, toilet training, etc.
• Provides referrals and tracks follow-ups, as appropriate, to help families make connections to key resources within the community.
• Facilitates parents'/caregivers' education groups.
• Participate in reflective supervision with colleagues.

Qualifications

Education:

• Master's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, early childhood, education, or related field highly preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in managing and reporting grant funded programs.
• Experience and knowledge about early childhood growth and development, parent-child relationships, child health, infant mental health, and family systems.
• Experience evaluating the growth and development of infants and children less than three (3) years of age.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Professional preferred.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in child development issues.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved populations in a community setting.
• Strong motivational interviewing skills.
• Ability to work with people of many cultures.
• Ability to take initiative and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work well both in teams and independently.
• Ability to collect and enter data for program management, evaluation and reporting purposes.
• Must be empathic, supportive and patient.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day.
• Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
