Notes to Applicant:
The position works closely with and under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs' (OSA) Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) at the University of Houston Law Center to comprehensively manage student academic performance information. The position serves as a key technical resource for OSA and is responsible for the development and improvement of technological business processes that support OSA's essential functions.
Given the position's significant responsibility for data management and systems processing, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, data analytics, or a related field is required. Applicants with an advanced degree in a related field will be thoughtfully considered. Experience with SQL query writing, advanced Excel, Qualtrics, MS 365, relational databases, information system integration, student information systems, data analysis and "data wrangling", and business process development is highly preferred. Experience in higher education administration, student records, enrollment management, or a related area is also helpful.
The position's primary responsibilities are as follows:
-Serve as OSA's primary technical resource for student data and information systems, including student recordkeeping, enrollment, academic progress, and performance.
-Generate, develop, maintain, and analyze student data using SQL, advanced Excel, Qualtrics, statistics, relational databases, the MS 365 platform and its internal automation tools such as Power Automate, and other tools to support reporting, compliance, accreditation, assessment, and decision-making.
-Evaluate, develop, and improve business processes and workflows, including opportunities for automation, data integration, and other technology-based solutions.
-Create apps and tools and plug-ins that benefit OSA or the student population or other Law Center stakeholders, and increasingly use AI technology to generate more useful and beneficial items to improve services to students and the measurement of important activity and student success metrics.
-Manage course registration processes, grade submissions, exam scheduling, and other enrollment and academic systems processes.
-Oversee graduation audits, monitor degree progress, manage student records, and help ensure compliance with academic policies and procedures.
-Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, datasets, and other analytical tools and resources for OSA leadership and internal and external stakeholders.
-Collaborate with OSA leadership and Law Center and University partners to troubleshoot system issues, implement process improvements, and support technology and data initiatives.
-Serve as a resource for complex and ad hoc data requests and provide analysis to support operational planning, program evaluation, and strategic decision-making.
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
