Position Description:

We are seeking a Water Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. This role will lead technical design and delivery for pump station and wastewater capital projects, including new facilities and rehabilitations. Candidates must hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license and have 10-15+ years of relevant experience with pump station and wastewater system design. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in multidisciplinary teams, deep knowledge of pumping system components and controls, and experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates for municipal clients.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical planning, design and construction support on various wet weather projects that may include pump station, combined sewer overflow, collection system, water, stormwater, hydrologic and hydraulic models, and/or other water/wastewater projects
  • Serve as Design Lead/Deputy PM on pump station capital projects.
  • Support mentoring, standards, and QA/QC across pumping systems work.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives
  • Prepare and evaluate wet weather control alternatives
  • Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports and specifications
  • Prepare and review engineer estimates
  • Prepare design cost estimates
  • Conduct research and development for projects
  • Monitor task budget and progress
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Communicate project details with other design engineers
  • Conduct project cost reviews
  • Promote sales
  • Prepare and review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations
  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering


Skills/Experience:

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10-15+ years of relevant experience with pump station and wastewater design (new and rehabilitation).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong knowledge of pump station components and systems (wet wells, pumps/valves/piping, odor control/ventilation as relevant, standby power, SCADA/I&C interfaces)
  • Experience developing plan, specification, & estimate packages and navigating reviews with municipal clients.
  • Experience with rehabilitation/retrofit work: constrained sites, phased construction, maintaining operations, bypass pumping concepts.
  • Familiarity with surge/transient analysis tools or coordination of transient evaluations.
  • Construction administration and commissioning/startup experience for pump stations.
  • Prior work with large municipal agencies and capital programs (NYC-region experience a plus)
  • Integration across civil / mechanical / electrical / I&C.
