The PositionWilson Elser's New York office is seeking a
Professional Liability Associate Attorney to join a dynamic litigation team representing professionals and organizations in matters involving legal malpractice and other professional liability claims.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex matters from early case assessment through resolution, including motion practice, mediation, and trial. The associate will play an active role in case strategy, client communication, and litigation management while collaborating closely with experienced partners and attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:- Independently manage or assist with a defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including dispositive motions, mediation, negotiated settlement, or trial
- Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents and conduct in-depth legal research
- Handle court appearances, depositions, and other key litigation activities
- Conduct and manage written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and subpoenas
- Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on case strategy and complex legal issues
- Communicate directly with clients and provide regular case status updates and strategic recommendations
Qualifications- JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the State of New York
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience
- Experience with professional liability matters preferred
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Experience handling written discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters effectively

Salary Range:
$140,000-$190,000 USD
