Full Job Description
Our Role:

The Production Planning Supervisor leads the planning, material control, and warehouse functions to ensure that production schedules, material flow, and quality control operations support manufacturing demands and customer commitments. The role oversees scheduling processes currently executed through Excel-based tools and spreadsheets while driving the transition toward SAP-based planning. This position ensures schedule accuracy, inventory integrity, warehouse efficiency, and integration of inspection and quality checkpoints into the production plan. The supervisor collaborates with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to maintain compliance with BWXT's nuclear quality and safety requirements.

Your Day to Day:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the production planning and material control team; establish expectations, monitor performance, and support continuous skill development.
  • Manage and Oversee the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and detailed work-center schedulescurrently maintained through Excel spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy, version control, and timely updates.
  • Integrate quality control operations-including in-process inspections, hold points, and final inspection-directly into scheduling activities to prevent delays and maintain compliance.
  • Coordinate quality inspection capacity with the Quality team to manage queues, plan inspection workloads, and support timely flow through all inspection stages.
  • Manage inventory control processes such as cycle counting, traceability (lot/heat), and data accuracy in compliance with nuclear quality standards.
  • Oversee warehouse operations to support efficient material flow, staging, storage, kitting, and delivery to production and inspection points.
  • Maintain high data integrity across Excel schedules and ERP/MRP tools and prepare teams to migrate these processes to SAP
  • Lead planning, inventory, warehouse, and data readiness for SAP launch, including data cleanup, system validation, process mapping, and user training.
  • Monitor schedule performance, including inspection milestones, and intervene proactively to address bottlenecks, material shortages, or capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program. Management to resolve issues and maintain schedule adherence.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning discipline, Excel-to-SAP process transition, inventory accuracy, warehouse optimization, and quality workflow integration.
  • Prepare and deliver reporting and metrics on schedule health, inventory performance, warehouse throughput, and quality inspection cycle times.
  • Support audit activities and documentation aligned with CSA N299, ISO 9001, and all nuclear regulatory requirements.
  • Support planners in driving completion of non-conformances through Engineering and Quality to meet the schedule.
  • Lead team development and manage employee performance via setting goals and training.
  • Support commercial team in building estimates for new RFQ.
  • Oversee the monthly dashboard report out and maintain accurate KPIs.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; prior involvement in SAP implementation or operation is asignificant asset.
  • Understanding of quality control processes, inspection workflows, and controlled documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, routings, and material/quality requirements.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $88,000 and $129,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
