Full Job Description
Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the consistently safe and efficient operation of the Emterra tire recycling facility. Specifically, the role requires day-to-day leadership of production supervisors and plant employees to ensure production targets are met, safety requirements are observed and product quality meets, or exceeds all standards while ensuring equipment utilization, housekeeping standards, and operational costs are effectively managed.

Key tasks for the role are to maximize plant throughput, maintain product quality, minimize downtime and to continuously improve overall plant performance.

Position Description
  • Responsible for ensuring that the plant is fully staffed and ready in all other aspects to maintain its 24-7 operating schedule.
  • Manage daily production activities and ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Lead and ensure required training of all types is provided to Shift Supervisors, Operators, and Production Employees.
  • Monitor and report to Senior Management about plant throughput, downtime, labour utilization, material recovery, and product quality daily.
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and safe operating practices.
  • Work in accordance with and be knowledgeable of all Local, Provincial, and Federal rules, regulations and legislation that may be applicable to the facility.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and the plant's Director of Operations to prioritize equipment repairs, conduct preventive maintenance, and make reliability improvements.
  • Investigate and work to resolve all production issues, equipment-related delays, quality concerns, and recurring operational problems.
  • Ensure proper operator inspections are performed at the beginning of each shift and that detailed production reporting, and shift handovers are completed as required.
  • Maintain high standards for housekeeping, material management, and plant organization.
  • Keep labour and overtime costs within mandated limits while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Providing direction to Production Supervisors and production employees.
  • Establishing shift priorities and production expectations.
  • Reviewing production and downtime performance.
  • Coaching supervisors on leadership, accountability, safety, and operational discipline.
  • Supporting recruitment, training, performance management, and employee development

Skills and Qualifications
  • College diploma or university degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical/Industrial Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent manufacturing or recycling industry experience may be considered.
  • Previous leadership experience in manufacturing, recycling, heavy industrial processing, waste management, automotive, rubber processing, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Experience managing 24/7 production operations.
  • Experience with PLC programming/controls is an asset.
  • Experience with industrial processing equipment, production KPIs, downtime analysis, and continuous improvement is preferred

Working Environment:

Wage: $75,000 - $90,000
