JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Plans, directs, monitors materials planning, inventory control, storage, shipping, and receiving activities so that the organization has access to the inputs, materials, goods, and services it needs for current and future operations. Materials management managers supporting medium/small org size plants will often be found at this level.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides effective leadership with salaried and hourly personnel in daily production control activities.
  • Plan and create level production plans and make recommendations for manufacturing support. Distribute the monthly Master Schedule based on customers' project demand.
  • Develop and monitor buffer stock levels.
  • Balance buffer stock size and level planning periods to optimize value streams.
  • Monitor inventory records to provide an accurate perpetual inventory on all parts.
  • Monitor trends and establish actions for continuous improvement and cost reductions.
  • Provide daily information to production personnel on customer demand fluctuations and shipping patterns.
  • Maintain necessary traffic responsibilities to ensure timely delivery to the customer.
  • Work in conjunction with direct reports to maintain constant communication with all plant management, suppliers and customers on any material issues that arise.
  • Implement and maintain BOS procedures and product changes for Materials Department.
  • Track and drive key measurables to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Participate with new product launch teams to assure timely delivery of raw materials for prototypes and prompt delivery of product to customers.
  • Prepare and present customer risk assessment, premium freight risk, premium freight actual, delivery performance, etc. during daily management meeting.
  • Understand the KPI's related to Production Control, Record Integrity, and Freight Cost


Experience Required:
  • Must be experienced in formal ERP/MRP systems.
  • Planning and scheduling, demand management, CUM management, customer measurement systems, Inventory management, material systems and working knowledge of operations, accounting, purchasing and other related production functions
  • Must have broad knowledge of all aspects of materials management to include logistics, inventory control, MRP, shipping and receiving.
  • Must possess excellent communications skills, both verbal and in writing; strong problem-solving skills coupled with good mathematical abilities.
  • Must show strong interpersonal and leadership skills, PC software skills and formal MRP system processes.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills and customer focus, and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 Years suggested minimum experience.
