Full Job Description
Role Summary

This role's center of gravity is the customer - their experience of the Anova solution and their ability to realize meaningful value from it. You'll grow into deeper ownership as you build your track record here.

The Product Manager owns discovery and delivery across a defined product area within the Anova Unify platform. Working closely with a Senior PM or Director, you drive the full product lifecycle for your area - from structured customer research through to shipping, measuring adoption, and iterating. This is a hands-on execution role: you will write specs, manage a backlog, partner daily with engineering, and get close to customers. You won't be handed a roadmap to execute - you'll help shape it.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead deep customer discovery. Design and run ongoing discovery programs - interviews, site visits, usage analysis, win/loss reviews. Develop a differentiated point of view on what customers need, what they'll pay for, and what will create durable competitive advantage. Use AI tools to accelerate research and synthesis. Build conviction before building product.
  • Own your backlog end-to-end. Write specs and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from. Prioritize ruthlessly. Keep the backlog current and free of ambiguity.
  • Ship and measure. Define success metrics before each release. Monitor adoption post-launch. Share what you're learning with the broader team and make fast, evidence-based adjustments.
  • Partner with engineering and design daily. Be a reliable, responsive partner. Unblock your team. Make trade-off calls with good judgment and know when to escalate.
  • Reason across the full stack. Understand how Anova's physical devices, connectivity layer, and cloud platform interact - and make product decisions that account for hardware constraints, firmware cycles, and sensor data quality, not just software capabilities.
  • Enable go-to-market. Write clear release notes, internal briefings, and customer-facing materials. Help sales and customer success understand what you've shipped and why it matters.
  • Support customers. Triage escalated product issues in your area. Maintain a feedback loop with support and customer success to surface patterns early.

Outcomes you'll own
  • Anova leads customer insight amongst the IoT market. Your deep curiosity about customers, their processes, and how IoT transforms their business will keep Anova the leading player that best understands how IoT leads to value for our customers' customers.
  • Feature adoption and customer value realization. Features you ship get used, and customers can point to the value. You define the adoption metric before you ship, track it after, and iterate until it moves.
  • Discovery pipeline. A healthy, evidence-backed backlog - prioritized from real customer insight, validated with data, and ready for engineering.
  • On-time, high-quality delivery. Your area ships on cadence and predictably. Specs are clear, edge cases are handled, and engineering isn't blocked waiting for answers.
  • Squad metrics. You track velocity, cycle time, and escaped defects - not to report up, but to spot friction early and remove it.
  • NPS contribution. Customers in your product area trust the product and feel heard. You stay close to feedback, close the loop on issues, and bring the voice of the customer into every decision.

How you'll work at Anova
  • Specs, one-pagers, and decision memos are how we align a global, distributed team - writing clearly forces clear thinking. AI can help you draft, but writing well remains your skill to own.
  • You use AI as leverage. You're fluent with LLMs for research, synthesis, drafting, and analysis, and you bring a clear point of view on where AI should - and shouldn't - show up in B2B industrial products.
  • You reason from data. You define the metric before you ship the feature, and you're comfortable pulling the numbers yourself in a modern BI tool.

What you'll need to succeed:
Minimum Requirements -
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience with mobile platform development, device connectivity, and software deployment.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with direct ownership of product area strategy and adoption outcomes.
  • 6+ years of total professional experience, spanning product management, software engineering, or related technical functions.
  • You have at least one example of taking a product, feature, or initiative from zero - no spec, no playbook - to something real and used.
  • Track record of shipping SaaS or enterprise software in close partnership with engineering teams - from spec to production - using Agile/DevOps.
  • Experience conducting customer discovery interviews and translating qualitative and quantitative insight into prioritized, well-scoped backlog items.
  • Demonstrated use of AI and LLM tools in a PM context - for research, synthesis, spec drafting, competitive analysis, data work, or customer insight.
  • Ability to write clear, structured specs, one-pagers, and narratives for cross-functional audiences.
  • Comfort reasoning about technical trade-offs - APIs, data models, integration patterns - credibly with engineers.
  • Data fluency: define metrics, pull and analyze data in BI tools, and make evidence-based roadmap calls.

Preferred Qualifications -
  • Prior experience in IIoT, connected-hardware, SaaS, or industrial technology environments.
  • Experience shipping ML- or AI-assisted features in a SaaS product.
  • Exposure to industrial or field-operations workflows - understanding how things work in the physical world.
  • Background in venture or private-equity-backed high-growth industrial technology companies.
