Position Summary
We're hiring a Product Manager, Economy to be the economic brain behind our games. You will specialize in tuning the economy (what things cost, what they give, and how fast players progress) and you will share LiveOps, monitoring and monetization with the teams that run them day to day. If you like modeling incentives and then watching real players prove you right or wrong, this is the job.
The economist's mindset
- Thinks in incentives: what a change makes players do, not only what it costs or earns.
- Reads an economy as flows: sources, sinks, inflation, and the marginal effect of each tweak.
- Trades short-term revenue against long-term economy health, and says which one a decision favors.
- Decides from data, models and experiments rather than intuition, then writes the reasoning down.
What you will own
- Own the design of the game economy: currencies, sources and sinks, progression, and the pricing of virtual goods, with clear KPIs that show whether it is healthy.
- Tune the economy week to week: feature configurations, rewards, level progression, bonus values and offer contents, using data and experiments to fine-tune.
- Build simulations and predictive models that forecast how content, pricing and balance changes will land before they ship.
- Plan, run and read A/B tests on economy and pricing changes, and turn the results into decisions.
- Define player segments from behavior and motivation, and tailor economy parameters to each segment.
- Own monitoring of economy health (player balances, inflation, source and sink ratios, conversion) and act on anomalies.
- Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, Marketing and Engineering so the economy supports game goals, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
What you will share
Co-owned with LiveOps, Monetization and Analytics
- Partner with Monetization on offers, bundles and price points. You own the economic guardrails (value per dollar, inflation, effect on progression); Monetization owns offer execution and revenue targets.
- Co-own LiveOps with the LiveOps team: you define the economy of each event (costs, rewards, pacing); LiveOps owns scheduling, configuration and QA.
- Help Product and Monetization make the experience-versus-revenue trade-off explicit.
What we are looking for
- Ownership mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and switching context quickly.
Nice to have
- Degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or another quantitative field.
- 3+ years in game economy, F2P product management or a closely related analytical role.
- Advanced spreadsheet modeling (Excel or Sheets) for balance models and simulations.
- Working knowledge of statistics and probability, and of simulation methods such as Monte Carlo.
- Python or R for analysis and modeling.
- Hands-on experience designing and reading A/B tests.
- Understanding of behavioral economics and player motivation.
- Background in mobile, online or social free-to-play games.
- Familiarity with LiveOps tooling and event operations, and a habit of working alongside a LiveOps team.
- Clear communicator who turns models into recommendations that stakeholders at every level can act on.
- Genuine passion for games, and a habit of playing the genre.
A few of our highlighted perks and benefits:
- Competitive salaries with annual bonuses and 401k matching
- In office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays open to work from home, giving you a flexible close to your week
- A workspace built for comfort: open office layout with ergonomic seating and standing desks, plus a game room with current-gen consoles, game titles, and table games for when you need a break
