Job Description:

3M is seeking a Product Engineer for its Manufacturing Plant located in Perth. The role will include supporting NPI for identified growth opportunities as well as redesign/improvement for existing products. Support will include introduction or new raw materials or intermediates to the plant, including SKU set up, regulatory and safety issues, procedures for use, packaging and identification of alternates. Conduction experiments on process equipment to vet process capabilities as well as product performance to known or developing standards. Other work will include projects to reduce COGs and improve yield through various value streams.

  • Initiate, identify, recommend, and oversee programs to improve safety, quality, and cost
  • Provide daily engineering support to optimize and improve plant Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost.
  • Participate and lead Process and Productivity Improvement,
  • Perform and guide technical activities leading to innovative application and extension of existing or new products/technologies.
  • Support new NPI programs and act as the liaison be the lab and manufacturing facility.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from Day 1, 3M requires (at minimum) the following qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science (completed and verified prior to start)


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Experience or familiarization with extrusion technologies, including material handling, compounding, non-woven web forming and coating.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in automation and industrial processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, superior computer skills, and excellent technical aptitude
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing processes and tool.


Travel: In this role, you will be required to travel approximately 5% of the time, which may involve overnight stays. A valid driver's license is required.

Relocation: Not authorized

The expected compensation range for this position is $77,016-$94,130, which includes base pay and variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
