Role OverviewWe are looking for a Product Designer to turn defined product requirements into flows, wireframes, and production-ready interfaces. You will be the design partner to our Product and Engineering teams, taking problems that arrive as specs and operational constraints and shipping the screens contractors, fleet operators, and compliance teams use every day.
This role is execution-focused by design. You won't be asked to set product strategy, but you will be expected to move quickly, make sound interaction decisions on your own, and produce work that engineers can build from without a long back-and-forth. We expect you to use AI tools as part of your normal workflow - for concepting, prototyping, and production UI.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Product, working alongside a small, fast-moving team.
Responsibilities- Translate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity interfaces ready for engineering handoff.
- Build clickable prototypes quickly - using AI-assisted tooling wherever it speeds you up - so flows can be tested and decisions made before engineering time is spent.
- Design for complex, data-dense workflows: onboarding queues, document and credential review, compliance status, exception handling, and admin tooling.
- Maintain and extend GigSafe's component library and design standards so the product stays consistent as it grows.
- Partner daily with Product and Engineering to scope what's feasible, pressure-test edge cases, and stay involved through implementation and QA.
- Prepare specs, states, and assets - empty, loading, error, and permission states included - so engineers aren't guessing.
- Run lightweight usability checks with internal operations staff and customers, and fold what you learn back into the designs.
- Support marketing and sales with in-product screens and visuals when needed.
Qualifications- 5-8 years of UX/UI or product design experience, with a portfolio of shipped software, not concept work.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI design and prototyping tools as part of your everyday workflow. Be ready to walk us through how you used them on real work and what you produced faster because of it.
- Strong interaction and visual craft: you can take a rough requirement to a clean, consistent, buildable screen without heavy art direction.
- Experience designing for web and mobile applications with operational complexity - dashboards, queues, tables, forms, multi-step workflows.
- Comfortable working from written specs and asking sharp questions when they're incomplete.
- Strong in Figma (components, variants, auto layout). If you came up in Sketch, Framer, or Penpot, tell us why. We care that you can pick up our stack quickly.
- Ability to manage several concurrent workstreams and ship on a regular cadence without heavy process.
- You can clearly explain a design decision to an engineer or non-designer.
Preferred- Experience in gig economy, contractor management, workforce, logistics, or other B2B operational software.
- Prototyping in code (HTML/CSS, React, or AI-assisted code generation) to get closer to a real, testable artifact.
- Experience building or maintaining a design system from scratch.
- Familiarity with compliance-heavy or document-review interfaces.
- Startup experience, especially as an early or sole designer.
