Full Job Description
You are:
As a Product Designer, you will design digital products and services that help government agencies deliver critical products and service offerings. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and federal partners to design secure, accessible, and user-centered experiences. This role spans the full product lifecycle, from understanding user and mission needs to delivering usable, compliant, and measurable solutions. You'll help agencies move beyond transactional experiences toward cohesive, digital services that build trust and improve outcomes for the public.

The work:
  • Design end-to-end digital experiences for federal programs, platforms, and services, from discovery and concept development through delivery and continuous improvement
  • Translate user needs, policy requirements, and mission goals into clear, accessible, and actionable design solutions
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and accessibility specialists in agile, DevSecOps-oriented teams
  • Create design artifacts such as user flows, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, and service blueprints to align teams and stakeholders
  • Apply and contribute to design systems (e.g., U.S. Web Design System or agency design systems) to ensure consistency, scalability, and speed to delivery
  • Ensure designs meet federal accessibility, usability, and security requirements (e.g., WCAG, Section 508)
  • Participate in stakeholder workshops, design reviews, and sprint ceremonies to support decision-making and delivery
  • Use qualitative and quantitative feedback (analytics, usability testing, Voice of the Customer) to measure adoption, satisfaction, and mission impact

Here's what you need:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of experience solving complex design problems and strategic skills to deliver best-in-class solutions
  • 2-3 years of experience designing digital products or services in consulting, in-house, or agency environments
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in utilizing AI-driven methodologies to shape and deliver findings or artifacts
  • Strong foundation in human-centered design principles, UX, and interaction design principles for browser-based, native application, and platform experiences
  • Experience working across the product lifecycle, from discovery through delivery and iteration.
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Framer)
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and product teams in agile or iterative delivery models
  • Ability to communicate design intent and tradeoffs clearly to diverse stakeholders, including non-design audiences
  • Portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, accessibility considerations, and impact-not just visual execution.

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience working with federal agencies or on public-sector digital services
  • Familiarity with U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and federal design patterns
  • Experience designing for complex, high-traffic platforms serving diverse audiences
  • Understanding of various technology platforms - Salesforce, ServiceNow, PEGA, etc. - that support user experiences
  • Demonstrable understanding of technical (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), creative and implementation lifecycles
  • Exposure to service design, journey mapping, or omni-channel government services
  • Experience supporting data-informed design using analytics or Voice of the Customer tools
  • Prior experience in client-facing or consulting roles within regulated environments
  • Relevant Master's Degree
