JOB SUMMARY
The Product Analyst provides the analytical insights that support Sharon Tube's business strategy and profitability objectives. Partnering closely with cross-functional leaders, this role transforms data into actionable recommendations that improve margins, optimize inventory and capacity, and enhance operational efficiency. The position develops analytical tools and reporting that enable informed decisions on pricing, product portfolio strategy, and business performance. The position reports to the Business Unit VP of Sales with dotted lines to the Director of Planning and the Business Unit President.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Portfolio Analysis
- Analyze product portfolios to identify opportunities for growth, margin improvement, capacity optimization, and complexity reduction.
- Utilize segmentation methods, 80/20, ABCxyz, AB12, and similar methodologies to support portfolio optimization and strategic decision-making.
- Evaluate product, customer, and market profitability and recommend rationalization, simplification, or growth strategies.
- Develop portfolio performance dashboards and provide actionable recommendations aligned with business objectives.
- Support long-term portfolio planning through data-driven insights.
Operational, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Financial Analysis
- Quantify the operational and financial impact of product complexity on manufacturing, inventory, scheduling, procurement, and supply chain performance.
- Analyze the operational and financial impacts of product complexity across manufacturing, inventory, scheduling, procurement, and supply chain activities.
- Track and report results of portfolio, pricing, and rationalization initiatives against established business goals.
- Develop pricing analytics and recommendations that support profitability and growth objectives.
- Monitor margin, cost, pricing, and profitability trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Create reporting and tools that support pricing governance and business performance management.
- Maintain product and pricing data supporting e-commerce platforms and customer-facing tools.
Business Intelligence and Reporting
- Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical models that provide visibility into key business performance indicators against the Business Unit goals.
- Create recurring and ad hoc analyses supporting executive decision-making and strategic initiative execution.
- Improve data quality, accessibility, and consistency across business systems to strengthen organizational decision-making.
Digital Tools and Analytics
- Develop and enhance analytical tools that support product portfolio management, profitability analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of reporting platforms, databases, pricing tools, and business intelligence systems.
- Leverage ERP, CRM, and business intelligence systems to extract, organize, and analyze data that supports business performance improvement.
- Automate reporting and analysis processes where possible to improve efficiency, decision-making speed, and organizational effectiveness.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in business, operations, pricing, or commercial analytics within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience applying 80/20 or similar portfolio optimization methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel and AI-enabled analytics skills, including experience with ERP and business intelligence systems.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and analytical models.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in steel, metals, tubing, engineered products, or other manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience in pricing, profitability, operational, or product portfolio analytics preferred,
- Proficiency with AI, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, AI-enabled analytics tools, and related reporting platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, inventory management, supply chain processes, and cost accounting preferred.
Travel Requirements
- Position based in Sharon, Pennsylvania, or Niles, OH
- Travel expected approximately 10%–20%.
