The Opportunity

The Process Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities within a gold processing operation to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. This role provides day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel, coordinates planned and corrective maintenance, and works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance Planning teams to maximize equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.

The successful candidate will have strong experience maintaining mineral processing equipment in a mining environment, demonstrated supervisory skills, and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide daily direction to mechanical and/or electrical maintenance personnel supporting the gold processing plant.
  • Coordinate planned, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and plant reliability.
  • Prioritize maintenance work based on safety, production requirements, equipment condition, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the condition and performance of critical process equipment and identify opportunities to prevent failures and improve reliability.
  • Support maintenance of equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, grinding mills, pumps, cyclones, thickeners, flotation equipment, agitators, tanks, piping, valves, and other mineral-processing equipment.
  • Coordinate with Operations to safely isolate equipment and establish appropriate lockout/tagout and energy-control requirements before work begins.
  • Review work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment history, and backlog to ensure effective execution of planned work.
  • Coordinate contractors and service providers working within the processing plant as required.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, job briefings, and other safety communications.
  • Ensure employees and contractors follow site safety, environmental, housekeeping, and operating procedures.
  • Investigate equipment failures and recurring maintenance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives for critical plant equipment.
  • Monitor maintenance performance, including equipment availability, downtime, work completion, backlog, and maintenance costs.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, and shift reports are completed.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Planning and Reliability teams to develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, major maintenance campaigns, and planned plant outages.
  • Manage maintenance priorities during unplanned equipment failures and production interruptions.
  • Identify opportunities for improved maintenance practices, equipment modifications, and cost-effective reliability improvements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel, including providing performance feedback and identifying training needs.
  • Ensure appropriate tools, parts, materials, and resources are available to execute maintenance work effectively.
  • Maintain strong communication with Processing, Mine Operations, Engineering, Metallurgy, and other site departments.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Millwright, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Relevant journeyman/trade certification in mechanical, millwright, electrical, instrumentation, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Additional training or certification in maintenance management, reliability, leadership, or industrial safety is an asset.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial operations.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead-hand experience managing maintenance personnel in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining equipment used in gold processing or other hard-rock mineral processing operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical equipment such as crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, screens, piping systems, valves, and process equipment.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience planning and executing plant shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate timely corrective action.
  • Experience working with contractors and coordinating multiple maintenance activities simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, energy isolation/LOTO, confined-space requirements, and applicable mining safety standards.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 processing operation and willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
