POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Controls Professional supports control systems for the compression, processing, and pipeline assets in the East. This role provides technical stewardship and programming support for SCADA systems, PLC programs, and HMI systems. The position is responsible for implementing process controls improvements, troubleshooting control system issues, and supporting projects in adherence to MPLX standards and industry best practices. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Measurement and Environmental teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations through effective application of control strategies and automation technologies.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops skills to program, support, and troubleshoot local control logic, HMI displays and supporting technology (networks, remote communications/protocols and metering) to meet operational, economic, and regulatory objectives. This includes systems such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA platforms, and HMI applications (e.g., DeltaV, Ignition, GeoSCADA, Wonderware, or equivalent).
• Understands cause and effects (C&E) and controls narrative documentation and utilizes this documentation to assist with factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT). Documentation may include control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, and control logic descriptions for DCS, SCADA, and RTU-based systems.
• Troubleshoots basic alarms with other operational teams and assists in their resolution. May include issues related to control logic execution, HMI behavior, data quality, communications to remote assets, or RTU integration.
• Understands local operations processes and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and assists troubleshooting issues.
• Performs maintenance Controls projects and day-to-day support; receives direction from others and seeks out mentoring contacts throughout the organization.
• Understands MPLX standards/guidelines as well as industry standards/guidelines.
• Understands core concepts and participates in safety-related processes and programs such as process hazards analysis (PHA) and management of change (MOC).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate's degree or vocational qualifications in related field required.
• Seven (7) years of related experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
