Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Procedure Writer(Chemical Process) opportunity in Johnson City, TN.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Procedure Writer with a strong background in chemical processes to develop, revise, and maintain technical operating and maintenance procedures. This role is responsible for translating complex technical requirements into clear, accurate, and compliant procedures that support safe and efficient operations in highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, revise, and maintain operating and maintenance procedures for chemical processes and nuclear facilities.
  • Convert technical requirements, engineering documents, P&IDs, system descriptions, and regulatory standards into user-friendly, actionable procedures.
  • Ensure procedures align with regulatory requirements (e.g., DOE, NRC, OSHA, EPA, ISO, or other applicable governing bodies).
  • Conduct document reviews and validations with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineering, operations, and safety personnel.
  • Participate in procedure walkthroughs, tabletop reviews, and field validations to verify technical accuracy and usability.
  • Maintain configuration control and document management within established quality assurance programs.
  • Support audits, assessments, and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for procedural improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Nuclear Technology, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of procedure writing and development experience in chemical processing industrial environment.
  • Direct experience in nuclear facility operations, radiological controls, or chemical plant operations.
  • Demonstrated experience writing or revising technical procedures in a controlled documentation environment.
  • Strong understanding of process safety principles and operational risk mitigation.
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, system flow diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as DOE, NRC, OSHA, EPA, or comparable governing bodies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple document revisions simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • PPA Certification.
  • Experience developing procedures from a nuclear chemical process line.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and quality assurance standards (e.g., NQA-1, ISO 9001).
  • Experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Experience supporting readiness reviews or operational startups.
