Private Market Analyst

Job Description

Position Summary

Lee Financial is seeking an experienced Private Market Analyst to join a lean, high-performing investment team. This role covers the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and due diligence on new opportunities to ongoing monitoring of existing holdings. The analyst will evaluate fund investments and direct investments, including co-investments and single-asset opportunities across private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and real assets. The ideal candidate brings deep private markets expertise with intellectual curiosity, sound investment judgement, and the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into well-supported investment recommendations.

Responsibilities
Sourcing and screening: Identify and evaluate new private market investment opportunities across asset classes, including funds, co-investments, and single-asset transactions. Assess fit with the firm's investment mandate before advancing to full due diligence.
Due diligence: Conduct comprehensive due diligence on screened opportunities, assessing manager quality, investment strategy, risk management, return potential, and structural terms. Prepare clear, well-supported investment memoranda and recommendations for presentation to the investment team and investment committee.
Portfolio monitoring and reporting: Track and evaluate the performance of existing private market holdings against original investment expectations. Prepare regular reports for internal stakeholders.
Market monitoring: Stay abreast of market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes affecting private market asset classes. Provide regular updates for the investment team and investment committee.
Collaboration: Work closely with the investment team across all aspects of portfolio management, contributing to weekly investment debates with an equal vote on positions and allocation changes.

Skills and Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
• Advanced degree, CFA (or CFA candidate) a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in private market asset due diligence.
• Strong understanding of private market asset classes, including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, real assets, and hedge funds.
• Experience in conducting comprehensive interviews with fund managers to assess their investment strategies, risk management practices, and overall fund performance.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with extreme attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including financial modeling for both fund-level analysis (IRR, TVPI, DPI, cash flow modeling) and asset-level underwriting (co-investments, direct real estate, and other single-asset transactions).
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex investment concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
